Is there only way one change the control command language? Reset my computer with %26quot;System Restore%26quot; then download an

English xp version.

Please help...Thanks!!!Please Help!My computers in Japanese how can I change it to English!!?
You would need to install Window XP english edition. There is no way that you can convert Japanese version of XP to English. Probably you would need to purchase OEM version all together. Call up Helpdesk and ask them if they can ship you OS cd(English version) which I suspect they would not.

Windows Vista, English language?

I have just bought a copy of Windows Vista in China. When I bought it I was told that it had English language support. However, I have installed it and the whole program is in Chinese characters. How would I go about changing the default language to English? Would I need to download support files from Microsoft? Or will it not be possible to change? If not how would I go about removing the program and reverting back to XP?Windows Vista, English language?
Just wondering why u bought it from China. China is well known in making pirated softwares. Since Windows Vista is not yet on stores, that software is just a preview or something that have no much functions. Why not wait til the release comes? Next time be careful. Make a thorough research first before purchasing such thing.Windows Vista, English language?
Windows Vista has not been released yet! The copy you have can only be a pre-release version or a pirated copy.

Release in the U.S.A. is scheduled for January 30TH and at various times throughout the world. Language packs will be available for GENUINE copies of Vista.

I have been testing Vista since Beta2, RC1 and now RC2....can't wait to receive my copy of the final release. I am getting Vista Ultimate:)

To re-install XP you will have to format your hard drive. There is no other way.

If you have your computer set to boot from CD first, turn off your computer and insert the XP CD. Restart and one of your options will be to format, then proceed with installation.

My computer has both languages Arabic and English. The numbers however used to stay in English even when I switched the language to Arabic so my dad changed something and now the numbers appear in Arabic even though I'm writing in English. I need to fix this. Any idea how I can set the numeral system on my PC ????

How do I get Windows media player to display Hebrew instead of Gibberish?

I have Windows media player 11 on windows XP in English. All the names and information of my Hebrew songs are displayed in Gibberish instead of Hebrew. I already set the language

Regional and language settings (Advanced Tab) to

Hebrew as the default language of non-unicode applications.

All other microsoft programs display Hebrew correctly after this change. How do I get Windows media player to display Hebrew instead of Gibberish?
It's possible that that information was already converted to Unicode under non-Hebrew code-page.

In that case you need to somehow convert it back to the ANSI code-page (sorry, but I don't know about any program that does it), then re-convert it using Hebrew code-page.

Windows XP lets you switch languages with a single click using the Language bar.

    To show the Language bar

    1. Open Regional and Language Options in Control Panel.

    2. On the Languages tab, under Text services and input languages, click Details.

    3. Under Preferences, click Language Bar.

    4. Select the Show the Language bar on the desktop check box.

The only logical explanation I can think of, is your OS is in German therefore the clock [time, day, month] is in German.

Every time you write an email and send it, it is date stamped by the OS clock, so if it's in German it will write it in German.

I don't think you can change it because the date stamp is put on when you actually send it. So therefore you have no control over it.

Have just received a Dell Latitude D630 with XP Pro but unfortunately it was installed in Dutch..

I've tried changing the language but the OS stays in Dutch...of which I don't understand FA

Hit several buttons at random so I've probably confused things even more.

I have the %26quot;green%26quot; Dell disc XP Pro service pack 2... so I assume that my last resort is to reinstall

HOPING that I can choose a Language that I understand ( French or English)?

I have the choice between a Total re-install or the recommended 'Mise a Niveau' sorry don't know the literal translation but its like an up grade..... It also says I should deactivate my Anti virus ( thing)

How do I do this ? Question ... will I be able to choose another Language (French) with the up grade.

Sorry to seem to stupid but I've been using MAC for the past 10 years and have no idea how Windows works.Help with windows XP Pro sevice pack 2?
Yes Windows XP is very simple to use. You can change language at any time.

You don't even need to format or upgrade windows xp. The language option is in the %26quot;control panel%26quot;.

Windows xp has so many Languages.Help with windows XP Pro sevice pack 2?
Before you go for any of the following mentioned process you need to do some modification to your system which are as follows.

Go to Control Panel%26gt;Regional and Language Options. Click on Language tab and check the option named %26quot;Install files for complex script and right to left languages%26quot;. Depending upon your requirement you can also go for %26quot;Install files for East Asia languages.%26quot; Click OK and provide the Windows XP setup CD and restart the system.

After restarting once again go to Control Panel%26gt;Regional and Language Options. In Regional Options tab select your language ( e.g. Hindi ) and click on Customize... .Here in Numbers %26gt; Standard Digits select your digit set and in Digit substitution select National. You can also go for some other settings in this window.

    [The First Process]

If there is discussion of Windows operating system, Registry matters.

Type “regedit” in Run and you will have registry editor.

In registry editor locate the location %26quot;HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Wi…

Here you will see lots of string key. This is your first working area.

Now start Character Map and select %26quot;Mangal%26quot; font for Hindi, %26quot;Shruti%26quot; for Gujarati, “Latha” for Tamil, “Tunga” for Kannada, “Raavi” for Gurumukhi and some other for other languages.

Character Map can be found at

    Programs%26gt;Accessories%26gt;System Tools%26gt;Character Map

If it is not there then install it from

    Control Panel%26gt;Add or Remove Programs%26gt;Windows Components%26gt;Accessories and Utilities%26gt;Accessories%26gt;Character Map

Make some setting in combo and list boxes to find your character set.

    Select -%26gt; Advanced view

    Character Set -%26gt; Unicode

    Group by -%26gt; All

Create words of your language by selecting characters from it. If you have done then copy these character. and paste it at the value of specific key in above specified location in RE.

(In the “Mangal” font select any character. You can see its integer code in status bar. This code is of 16 bit. E.g. U+0915: Devanagari Letter Ka. That’s why you can’t enter it directly from keyboard.)

Now come back to Registry editor (at the above specified location “H..\S..\M..”). Go down your memory lane and remember that you have seen any of this string values some where in Explorer. Yes, double click on key you want to modify and paste those words (copied in Character Map) here. And you have done it.

For example in Explorer you have seen text “Wave Sound” for files of ‘wav’ extension.

So find “@C:\WINDOWS\inf\unregmp2.exe,-9908” in Registry editor, double click on key, modify it by pasting those words.

In the same manner you can modify tool tip of Recycle Bin, My Computer, Network Connections, etc.

Do the same steps to modify other values.

You don’t need to restart the computer. Just close the explorer windows (if opened) and open it again and see the MAGIC.

But since you cant understand the Dutch, you may need to do a complete re-install using the Disc otherwise you may not find the menus listed

Good LuckHelp with windows XP Pro sevice pack 2?
Perhaps if you have another computer with internet access you can use the google translation feature. That's on the top line under the %26quot;more%26quot; choice. Other wise you can work on symbols.

Click start and then control panel if the dutch won't allow you to understand it has a symbol , a square frame with a tick in it %26amp; a marker in front of it. Once in there choose the globe symbol (not the globe with a power plug into it)You will then open a box with three tabs. The first tab is regional options (in English) click the first drop down box %26amp; then select French. This just sets currency formats and a few other things. Then click on the second (middle tab) (text services %26amp; input languages in English) click on the first tab there %26amp; you should be able to select your required version of French. This choice sets the default input language when you boot. After a restart, go back into the same area %26amp; find any other preferences you need to set.

Hope it works!Help with windows XP Pro sevice pack 2?

    Windows Language...?

My family has used windows xp in Spanish (we are Argentines) since we had our first computer. Now, we've bought a new hard drive because our's had 36 GB and now we have 146, but since windows was installed when we got our computer, we don't have the window's cd so we used a cd of windows we downloaded. The thing is that this windows is in English. We know quite well the English language, but I wanted to know if there could be something (besides the different keyboard configuration, that I heard this can be changed) that could bother me in the future (and if there is some advice in having it in english). Also, I would be grateful if someone could told me how to switch the keyboard configuration.Windows Language...?
The language in which Windows speaks cannot be changed by any swtiches within Windows.

If you want Spanish-language version of Windows instead of English, you need to re-install it from Spanish XP Disk.

If you have valid license, you can probably contact your local Microsoft sales office or PC retailer or get installation CD from somebody else and use it with your license.

As far as keyboard goes, go to Control Panel -%26gt; Regional and Language Options -%26gt; Language -%26gt; Details. Then add %26quot;Spanish (Argentina)%26quot; input language and select key combination under 'Key Settings' that switches between layouts (Left Alt-Shiftt by default).

On the same screen, you may also want to select Spanish as default input language if you use it more often.

How do I change the language on my computer and how do I hook it up to my internet provider?

My family had a Windows XP computer about two years ago and it had a bad virus. They took it to a Korean repair shop (my family is of that nationality), got it fixed, and stored it away in a safe place until I decided to hook it back up today.

Everything is working fine, but the language is changed to Korean so I have difficulty knowing which program is what. Also, I want to be able to use the internet on it.

My internet provider is Comcast, and we only own one modem that is currently hooked up to the computer I am typing on right now (a Windows Vista). We also have a D-Link router so that my Mom and brother can use their laptops around the house.

My Mom is going to help me with changing the computer back to English, but I need to know what to click on so she can translate.

As for the internet, I do hope I do not need to call Comcast and order another modem because it's a bit pricey, so how should I go about getting internet access on my Windows XP?How do I change the language on my computer and how do I hook it up to my internet provider?
As far as the language, go to Control Panel and click on Regional and Language Options (its an icon of the earth). Change the pulldown menu to English.

As far as your internet, no you wont need a new modem. Ok, so it sounds like your router is wireless and your laptops work fine on them. It sounds like you're saying that the computer you're on now, is hooked up to a wire, correct? Are there other ports in the back of the router to hook up another wire? If so then just hook that to your computer (You need an Ethernet cord). If not, then you need to buy what is called an Ethernet Switch. They are pretty cheap (20.00 for a cheap one which is just fine).

Think of an Ethernet Switch like the brown extension cord. You know how you plug the extension cord in your wall, but you have 3 plugs on the other end? Same principle. Ethernet swiches come with different amount of ports, usually 2, 4, 8, 16, 32. The amount of ports is how many computer you can plug into it (bascially, think of your brown extension cord as a 3 port model, with 3 plugs). So you can buy a small port model for your needs. The way you will hook it up is you will take the cord from your internet modem and plug it into the Uplink port in the back of the ethernet switch. Then plug your two regular computers into any of the other jacks in the back. Voila, they will work instantly. Your Router will handle giving each of the computers the IP's.

Oh, there is another device that works almost identical to an ethernet switch. They are called Hubs. You can use one of those too. But I recommend a switch because they are more efficient.

Click this link for pictures and prices of ethernet switch at walmart: http://www.walmart.com/search/search-ng.

How do change the text format at the welcome screen?

I just got the new Windows XP Crystal and I was playing around with it. I had accidentally changed the language text format to Arabic, and then shutdown the computer. Now at the welcome screen, when i type my password in, it types it in Arabic. There's a small blue box in the corner that says %26quot;AR%26quot; meaning Arabic. I tried clicking on it to change it, but nthing happened. Is there any way for me to change this? I can't logon anymore and I don't know what to do.How do change the text format at the welcome screen?
Please tell me where you got XP crystal. I only know of XP Home, XP Pro, and XP Media Center, and then all the forms of Vista.

The different language shouldnt affect your logging in. Just trype your password as normal. The keys on the keyboard didnt change. Unless you have same fancy digital keyboard. (Do those even exist?)

How to change a game's language? Advise needed....

Hi fellas, ive got these two games: KOTOR %26amp; KOTOR 2...This means: Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic (2). I bought them from a german friend and both games are in german language. There are no english subtitels and the language cannot be changed either.

Did some digging and this is what I found on a completely non yahoo related forum.

    PirateRose

    04-08-07, 23:19

I did some research. Apparently there is not a language patch in existence right now for KOTOR1. The only way to solve your problem is to purchase an English game or learn German. I apologize for that. That must really suck. XD

Phantom Lord posted this on a different forum:

There are language flags in the baldur.ini file but I don't know what would happen upon changing them.

    The flags are:

    [Local]

    Language=German

    Language25=English

The combination above is taken from the english version bought in Germany and installed on a german version of windows.

    --------------------------------------?br>
So before you change any files make sure you make a copy and pot it somewhere safe out of the game directory like in your 'my documents' folder or something like that. If that doesn't work you may have to buy the English version.

Well worth it though. I still play them and I have had them for years. Heck I'm not even a Star Wars fan and I like them. How to change a game%26039;s language? Advise needed....

Secondly many manufacturers are not including rescue discs but at the boot menu have an option for a recovery secton. They do this by making a recovery partition with the data needed.

Windows faild to start because of a recent hardware or software change ?

Hello there I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop running on a upgrade from windows XP to Windows Vista Premminum. I have been running this version for some time now and nothing has happend in which I can not fix myself.. I have recently come accross a problume that brings me up to Windows Boot Manager. I will read exactly what it says and how it says it.

    Windows Boot Manager

Windows faild to start. A recent hardware of software change might be the cause. To fix the problume:

    1. Insert your windows installation disk and restart your computer.

    2. Choose your language settings, and then click %26quot;next%26quot;

    3. Click %26quot;Repair your computer.%26quot;

If you do not have this disk, Contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance.

    File: \windows\SYSTEM32\Drivers\SSHRMD.SYS

    Status: 0xc0000098

Info: Windows failed to load because a critical system driver is missing or corrupt.

Thats when it ends. Now I know it tells me how to fix it but I have a problume.. When it tells me a critical system driver is missing or corrupt... dosn't that mean its hardware failure or something like that and even if I put the disk in if im having hardware failure it wont work...

Also im concerned with what might have caused this problume. I know before the crash. I had gone onto Trend Micro 2008 anti viruse and it said a few things about windows changes and said that they were high so I changed them back. So im thinking when I changed them thats what happend... I know I might not be making a whole lot of sence but yeah im kinda confussed I have never seen this before....

First of all if that is the case you are going to want to boot from your windows vista cd and delete all the partisions on your computer. then reboot and load from the cd and install vista again. Thats the quickest and easiest way to fix it becasue it failed to start due to a software or hardware failiure.Windows faild to start because of a recent hardware or software change ?
the problem is that one of the windows files you have has either been deleted or corrupted, likely from that change to a windows file you made.

the best way to fix it is to repair just the windows files. to do this you just need a windows cd and when it asks you if you want to install windows just hit enter and later it will ask you if you want to repair it or want to delete everything and install windows. select repair and it will start reinstalling windows and not touch the files you put on there. the only thing to remember is it will ask you if you want to repair windows twice, ignore the first time and choose to install the second time and just follow the steps from there.

  • Windows XP Cannot Log in after fresh install?

Hi i just did a fresh install for windows xp and it works fine but after i rebooted when i try to log in by clicking the administrator account icon it goes thru login process and says %26quot;loading your personal settings%26quot; but it stops and goes back to welcome screen as if nothing happened. I tried safe mode but it does the same thing. I also tried %26quot;last known config%26quot; but that didnt work either.can any1 help me with this problem?

p.s. before i rebooted i changed the default language and the installlanguage from english to 0804(chinese) in the registry. im wondering if thats the problem. if so how do i access the registry without loggin in?Windows XP Cannot Log in after fresh install?
Any time you make changes in the registry, you risk messing something up, so most likely making that change is what's keeping you from logging in....

I'm sure there is something you can do to fix it, but BY FAR the easiest thing to do, would be simply format and fresh install again, I mean it sounds like you just got done with the fresh install, so if it did get messed up, it wouldn't hurt to try again.

Incase you can't fresh install again, the only way I've ever been able to manage the registry without actually getting into windows is with a disk a friend gave me of KnoppixSTD, it's a version of linux that runs directly from a disk, and comes with some tools to manage the windows registry.

How do you change computer languages?

What's the best way to change the computer language from English to Mandarin Chinese? Is there a way to change it so that the two languages are interchangeable? (so that it's not entirely in Chinese) I have a Windows XP if that is of any importance. My parents are trying to learn how to use the computer, but they're not completely fluent in English. I figure the best way would be for them to learn in Chinese. I'm guessing I'd have to get a Mandarin Chinese-English keyboard as well. Any advice would help. How do you change computer languages?
There is no such thing as a Mandarin - English keyboard. Keyboards in China are exactly the same as keyboards in the USA.How do you change computer languages?

How do I change the language of my ENTIRE computer?

After about a year, I'm fed up of having my computer set-up in French. I managed to change the default keyboard language setting and even the language of the little pop-up detail box that comes up when you hover your mouse over certain icons, but the %26quot;start%26quot; button still says %26quot;demarrer%26quot; (yes I know I'm missing the accent). The menus of my computer are also still in french. Can anyone help me take off the french from my computer? For online applications, JavaScript properties (information about different stuff) hold information like this. I am assuming that other programs use similar system data. This is not a hack, and this data is read only (the programs can see this information to make your computer easier to use but can't change it). Cookies are pieces of data from different sites stored on your machine. This data exists in your browser (internet application) and system (overall computer information).

If you want to see this JavaScript code at work, try copying the following JavaScript/HTML code into a blank text document (make sure its .txt), saving it, and opening it in your favorite web browser (like internet explorer):

    %26lt;script type=%26quot;text/javascript%26quot;%26gt;%26lt;!--

    document.write(navigator.language+%26quot;%26lt;br?br>
    document.write(navigator.systemLanguag?br>
    document.write(navigator.userLanguage)

    //--%26gt;%26lt;/script%26gt;%26lt;noscript%26gt;You forgot to turn JavaScript on! Check your browser's preferences or, if you see a security warning in IE, allow this.%26lt;/noscript%26gt;

PS: If you see %26quot;undefined%26quot;, ignore this. It's a weird problem I'm having (which is, in fact, ruining one of my programs :( ). Hope this works!

You get a Spanish OS (operating system). Microsoft creates the OS for many languages around the world. Some OS's let you use quick keys to change from one language to another language. I used to use one that switched from Japanese to English and go back. I can't read or speak Japanese so this helped when I needed to troubleshoot.
